How about Bolt

Ran 9.77. Just caught Powell over last 40 meters. Impressive closing speed. Thought Asafa had him.

From the replay behind I see Asafa was all over the track, but I would have to say this boy is invincible currently, nobody can hang with his top speed

Asafa came out of blocks with wider strides than usual. He looked to be stepping from one side of lane to the other. He still had Bolt pulled to 60m. Seems for Asafa to win he needs to run perfectly.

Bolt is sub 9.6 basic in disguise. Leaving out different parts of the race at different times to appear a mere mortal.

Maybe he’s going to have to listen to Charlie and race some 200s. The difference sure looks like SE today.

I hope he listen to me also, because I said the samething.

What was the temp and wind out there?

it’s on the right on demand player:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/

The wind in the official results was -1.3.

I noticed that as well. A combination of the headwind and this side to side strides seemed to have affected his stride length to where he ended up taking one extra stride over the full 100m (46 knee rises from blocks to 100m) compared to his 2008 normal overall stride length over 100m(45 knee rises from blocks to 100m).

whereas in monaco 9.82 and lausanne 9.72 it was 45 knee rises from blocks to 100m.

The side view replay at regular speed must be amazing

The side-on-video roller is there. Hopefully they’ll release it in regular speed

You hate to question the top speed of a guy running 9.72sec, but if the evidence is that Bolt will continue to win these showdowns based on the second half of the race, what does Powell do to improve this part of his race in the hopes of turning the tide?

have him run WR type 150m sprints X 3, going through 100m at 9.90-9.95, hitting 150m mark at 14.35-14.45 lol:D .
Bolt will then one-up and follow suit, running WR type 150m sprints X 6, going through 100m at 9.85-9.90, hitting 150m mark at 14.25-14.35 lol:D .

This is just amazing. This is what competition is about. The glory days are coming back should I say?

And can you see that brotherly love in the end? Im not Jamaican but I gotta say it for my Jamaicans out there. JAMAICA STAND UP!!

where i can download the good quality video?

I think Asafa’s top speed is better if not on a par with Bolt. It was SE that won this race, mid-race Asafa surged due to his top speed. He needs to maintain it.

there is a link in http://www.charliefrancis.com/community/showthread.php?t=19218

We don’t know what the splits on Asafa’s 9.72 are yet, but Bolt’s 9.69 contained 3x10m at 0.82sec. I can’t find Asafa’s Rieti splits (9.74) but one of his 9.77’s had low spits of 0.84sec. If he isn’t hitting 0.82sec, then he has a top speed deficit to Bolt and not just an SE deficit.

If we do get an analysis of the 9.72 (or better after Rieti this week) it will be interesting to compare.
