Hill rest intervals

Looks fine to me. Spikes? Why not? Especially if there’s been any rain to make things slippery.

what kind of surface is that

what kind of surface is that?

No idea how can you tell? It’s a track surface I’ve used spikes on the flat part of it but I don’t know if it’s mondo, tartan, or whatever you guys call those things. I’m not a track athlete.

I’m guessing it can’t be that crazy surface-wise as it’s just a track for student use and is not the scholarship track athletes’ track. But UT has lots of money so…

So, I just got back from doing 180 paces (yards?) total on this hill.

It’s on campus though, so at about 7:00 AM, the rate of pedestrians walking up and down increases exponentially by the minute. So eventually I got to shut it down.

I’m sitting at the side on that curb on the right, take off my spikes, and start to walk over to my bag which is on the stairs there at the bottom. As I’m rounding the railing, I look up to see this old janitor picking up my shoe about 20 yards up (I use my shoes as distance markers). He then proceeds to chuck the shoe down the hill towards all my other stuff. He looked PISSED lol. He probably thought all my stuff was left over by some drunkard freshman last night or something.

Next time if he does that, hopefully he’ll toss my shoe directly at me, so then I can put it on real quick and catch up to him and ask him what’s up. Then again, he saved me another 20yard trip!

That hill looks a little too steep to me. I would think that a smaller gradient would be more sufficient but you have to use what is avaliable. Its awesome that its covered with the tartan. Where is this hill located, btw?..you mentioned UT…is that University of Texas, University of Tennessee, etc?

University of Texas @ Austin, north west corner of San Jacinto and MLK.
