I am not feeling that i am shooting out of the blocks therefore i tried the folllowing:
Facts: normally i use my front foot at the front because it “feels better” however my right leg is stronger.
I tried to start with my right foot in front…i felt that i was going out much faster but it felt kind of strange. Should i insist until i get used and get better use of the increased force out of the blocks or should i keep going out the way it “feels better”??
charlie what is your opinion? should i start with my strongest leg in front or with the the other leg that “feels better” ?
I would recommend against it because, while resistance can be good, it should be from behind , not from above. A weight vest forces the CM down, causing the foot to strike ahead of the CM instead of slightly behind it. Force can’t be applied in the desired direction of travel until the body has “rolled over” the contact foot. Slight resistance (no more than a 10% decriment in times out to 30m) directly from behind still allows for correct foot strike.
what are the thoughts on using a weight vest to improve your starts?
