Ok I am in my 7th week of max strength training, before a 1 week taper from conditioning and then testing on these things:
50m - 7.55
20m - 3.5
standing long jump - 2.06
10m shuttle run with 5 m running back - left foot - 3.53 right foot - 3.33
1 leg standing long jump - RL - 1.67 LL - 1.58
Triple hop - RL - 5.83 LL - 5.52
6m hop for time - RL - 1.80 LL - 1.59
agility test [http://www.topendsports.com/testing/tests/illinois.htm]
- RL turn 16.53 LL turn - 16.23
I tested these a few months ago. This 8 week block is my first weight training [proper program].
My question is this. If i want to improve these things, in particular of the mark speed, what should my conditioning look like? I could post up my 8 week max strength program [of which i am in the 7th week before 1 week taper and testing], to show what i have been doing volume wise.
I was thinking 1 session on plyometrics [with squat jumps etc as well], 1 session of form running [i have a bad running style which causes me a biomechanical problem. I have sprint drills to correct this.] - The form running, after the first few weeks will become pure sprint work ie after my style is ok i might do hill sprints etc. And 1 session weights upper body mainly with say 3 excersises in the lower body [eg deadlift, squat, split squat.] This would be to maintain my strength built up over 8 weeks and hopefully improve it slowly.
How does this look? Any suggestions on how to change it? If it looks like a good plan, could you perhaps give me a sample program or suggest excercises or drills to do considering i have limited conditioning experience.
Many thanks.
BUMP!
