head pain while working out...

I was doing split squats and on my last rep i got a sharp and sudden pain in my head that lasted about 10 mins (still hurts a bit)… have any of you experienced this? is it normal or something i should be concerned about? anyone know what causes it?

I hate to give you a lot of concern when it’s hopefully nothing but I’d feel guilty if I didn’t share this. Had something similar happen to me during an intense exercise activity some years back. Sharp headache right away, then dulled out after a bit and didn’t go away–finally went in, doc freaked out a bit and said I described the classic aneurysm symptoms (burst blood vessel in the brain) and did the full checkout on me–spinal tap, CAT scan, etc. Didn’t find anything, turned out that I now rarely get migraines (never used to). Hopefully, yours would be something similar but based upon the response I got from the doctor, I’d recommend going in and getting it checked out.

You said yours didn’t go away… if my ehad pain goes away should i still get it checked out?

anything to do with the head is worth checking out. better safe than sorry…

Get it checked out- and watch the caffeine. Yhat might be the cause.

the same problem if you cough?
have the head pain in other part of day?

no theres no pain when i cough… there’s pretty much no more pain at all today. I might still get it checke dout tho.

Get checked but it is probably exercise induced headache. This is where venus return is so strong that the blood basically can’t get into the heart fast enough so the pressure in the brain increases and you get a splitting headache. This is a really simplified version of events you can read more here:

Is this why I used to get a splitting headache every time I raced 400? Would go away in about 10 minutes, so I could repeat the damn process in 4X400 a little while later.

Do you use any of the NO2 type suplements? They use to do that to me. I stopped it went away. Tried again a year later and it came back.
