Ham injury help pls

Did a long warm up / one proggressive 100m on grass, 1 x 30m then -
first SE 70m my ham went at 30m -

It had been a little bit tight - but never having had a hamstring injury b4 it wasn’t anything to concern me. Learnt too late - again.

Dunno how bad it is - maybe a grade 2 - I’m iceing it, and can walk ok but it’s sore and a little swollen maybe - I’ll take complete rest for 3 days re- assess - and try and get the uni physio guy to look at in on friday - if poss - I’m skint at the moment.

Needless to say - completely f**!!ed off and a bit shocked - flexibility was good, maybe I’ve overstrecthced recently - or moving from the warm gym to the chilly outdoors could be it.

The whole season looks in jepoardy let alone the WSCC in 5 weeks - big step back and try not to do anything stupid I guess. Everything I touch turns to shit at the moment  .

Hey man - for the little it’s worth - I know exactly what you’re going through…

The only good news is that there is some good stuff here on line … search under ‘definitive hamstring’ and Charlie has good stuff there too…

Where abouts are you ??
Any chance of getting to a good therapist?

Here it is :

There are one or two other ones also, but I tried to pull as much stuff as I could from the old forumand keep it together …

Best of luck and keep the head up man …

Cheers 23 - I’d checked that thread - and its dead helpful.

I can’t get any therapy until friday - if at all

What I was planning was -
today - RICE
day 2 - hot and cold & rest
day 3 - hot and cold and a walk

then re-assess and try either 15 mins bike or x-trainer/self massage and micro- stretching for 5 days then either get some massage or an opinion on friday - and ease back in - it sort of feels cramped up rather than torn.
Hard to tell tho - not having done this particular beauty b4.

I think the bottom line is that I had a slight niggle and it was too cold to be going that fast - I was feeling fresh today and my speed sort of took me by surprise.

I guess it’s gonna be bloody stiff 2morrow. Aye - Heads up

Well - today stiff is all it does feel and tight. And not half as bad as yesterday. So I’m thinking maybe its just a strain and not a grade 2.

I’m pretty sure it’s not torn - it feels cramped and bruised more than anything, the only thing I ever tore was a quad in football and it’s nowhere near as painful as that - I couldn’t even move that for a week - plus I had a huge lump then lol.

I’m maybe gonna have a good walk tomorrow - even today. and I’m definitely gonna get a massage.

Is it better to wait 2 more days b4 a massage - when it’s less sore?

Would C10 be a benefit or not during rehab ?

I’m in the UK 23 - Mick Jones ( UK no1 hammer thrower ) is one local therapist - but I’m a bit scared of having that sort of strength unleashed on my leg - bit like getting the Hulk to trim ur toenails.
