Good time on 100 meters

I’m just basically taking up sprint training for the hell of it and i was just curious what a good time for the 100 meters is. Maybe somebody could tell me what a good time would be for local, state, and national level competitions.

I’ve only been time on the 100 meters once and i ran 11.7 with no training, was out of shape, and hadn’t sprinted in probably a couple years. I know this isn’t good but i was just curious how much of an improvement could be expected if i trained for it.

I’ve put on probably 35-40lbs of muscle since i ran the 11.7. I went from 150-155 to about 190. And i’m actually stronger now relative to my bodyweight so i’m hoping that will help improve my sprinting as well.

Well it depends what by good time you mean. If you want to be an elite sprinter then a good time would mean running low 10s. If you want to run just for the fun of it then that’s entirely opinion for you. When I was running 11.8 I thought 11.6 was a good time, when I ran 11.1 I thought that sub 11 was a good time. It’s all relative to performance.

Yeah i will mostly just be doing it for myself. But i had no idea what even elite level was. So if i can get down under 11 i would maybe consider that pretty good.

ok, so i looked to see how old are you are, 23 right? to be elite, you need to run faster than 10.5. so you got a long way to go. that 11.7 was hand timed im sure so that is actually around an 11.94 for Fully automatic timing. Sorry to break it to you but there are 6th graders who would blow your doors off on the track.

Way to give some positive encouragement. Dude everyone has to start somewhere, so don’t even worry right now. 11.7 w/ no training/experience isn’t that bad. Keep working hard and pick up a few of the products at the store. I suggest CFTS, GPP Essentials, and Fundamentals 1 for you to familiarize yourself with the terminology you’l see here, a general set up, and the theory behind all of this. Hope that helped.

Your lies burn my eyes. I don’t know many 6th graders running 11 FAT. I question many of your posts. This, tribulus, 10g creatine daily avoiding caffeine at all costs…what is your basis for all this.

There are no rules mate. Nothing wrong with 11.7 as a starting point. Train smart and you might achieve anything you set your mind to.

aw my little friend.
here is a caffiene and creatine article. caffiene renders creatine useless.

what do you doubt about trib?
and there are plenty of young kids running high 11.s

hey DWB sorry if i insulted you. i was just lettin ya know. but im sure u have plenty of areas you can drop your sprint time. ive taken some raw talent and knocked lots of times of 100m runners.

Lol find me a study on trib.

Plenty of 6th graders running 11.fat? You’re about 12 in 6th grade. Name a few.

as for 6th graders running 11 fat. theres prolly only a few. but theres allot at 12 flat who can run 11 sec hand timed. it was originally a joke, that some people who are way to up tight, have no life outside of these message boards, take a little to serious. but at the most i was a year off in my joke. 7th graders got that time on lock bro. LOCK. I hit high 11 hand times in 6th grade. 11.5 in 8th fat.
ok, i have to meet a recruit that is in town. CHEERS!

Jesus…is that with blocks, spikes and FAT?

In Scotland, 13.0h is considered pretty damn good for a 13yr old.

yea blocks and fat and all. its all legit.

I ran 11.78w and 11.88 when I was 12, I ran 10.98w and 11.01 when I was 13!

That was the aau national meet by the way, not just some random junk meet, and the winner of the race had also broken the national record at least 3 times that i know, ran 11.54 to break the record, 11.47, and 11.33, so the record before this year was atleast 11.55, i’m not sure the exact number probably around 11.6.

So this wasnt your run of the mill race, something about a second higher would usually consider above average for a local runner I would guess, I’m not much into the aau stuff, but I looked it up because I was in shock over those times.

u look pretty old in that avatar, what do you run now?

And now you run 6.70 60m, and about 10.5 for 100m?

Sorry … but what does 11.78w stand for?

Btw, those are some incredible times. Closest in the UK that I ever heard of was probably Craig Pickering, 11.9h without training blocks etc.

Never heard of anyone running 10.98 at 13 yrs old in the UK.

Heard of J-Mee Samuels obviously. But 17 13yr olds ducking under 12secs!?!? Unbelievable, it really is.

Popequique: If that wasn’t above average, I would have a heart attack and a brain haemorrage too! Those are some ridiculous times, that’s certain.
