Hi,
I have a slight tear in my right glute thats been niggling at me for a while now. In terms of rehab i havent gone to a physio, as its in a slightly awkward area. Its right beside my :o
I have been giving it hot and cold treatment and trying to use my foam roller on it. Ive been doing ‘supermans’ and leg curls to try strengthen the area without tearing it further.
Any other idea’s on how i could rehab this myself?
Or will i just have to bite the bullet and go to the physio.
Man that will be one embarressing trip. I dont really care as long as the physio doesnt get sick or something lol
well its been at me for a while now. im shamed to say nearly a year now. The thing was it was fine for the last 6 months. It just came at me again last week.
Im just going to have to bite the bullet, or maybe my physio is going to have to. lol
What about a girlfriend??? could you teach her the basics and get her to massage?
Possably there was scar tissue from the old injury left over that wasnt massaged out, and hence why it has come back in the same area.
Work on the scar/fibrotic tissue with massage, pressure (tennis ball/jacknobber) and light stretching (Microstretching, light static stretching, lightPNF).
Oral Enzyme (wobezyme, serratiopeptasi) can be useful.
Light EMS, in pulse (4-10 hz) mode can enhance circulation/drainage.
Do i have to drop the soap too? My team mates are not like that i swear
Thanks for the help guys. I can do a good bit of work myself, but it looks like im gonna have to hit for the physio. If rubber gloves go on, im outta there though
I think ive figured out the reason the injury has been with me so long.
Its not because of training or playing games on it. I played a game yesterday and i was 100% fine.
Its because of the stretch put on the area when i sit down. I can feel it as i sit here and type. The position and angle of my leg when i sit is causing a stretch on the glute, either preventing it from healing, or actually tearing it further.
I have no pain really when i run (after a good careful warmup), walk, lie down. Just when i sit.
So the question is what can i do about sitting? I have to sit 8 hours a day in work.
I tried lowering my chair to the very bottom height, but that didnt help. I think it increased the stretch.
Now im trying the very highest position.
I think its better, but now im towering over my computer!
