Genetics

In one of the HSI sprinters movies (actually the very first one)

John smith says that A donkey cannot win a kentucky derby because of genetics.

However, a couple of seconds before that he said that distance over time= velocity.

In other words, how far you can stride, and how fast your feet can touch the ground.

so whats with genetics? long legs? strong legs?

does anybody have an explanation for this?

I think it’s a alittle of both, you need the right DNA, coaching and hard working skills.

But Genetics can make a huge difference

What’s with genetics? I’d say if you show up to track in high school and running 10.30 to 10.60 then you have pretty good genetics. There have been many discussions on this like the “what makes sprinters fast?” thread.
