Front Squat vs Back Squat

What is the percentage of weight lifted during the Front Squat compared to a Back Squat? I did some Front Squats the other day and there seemed to be a lot of strain on my wrists. Is this a common problem?

I know I was personally doing about 75-80% of Back Squat weight.

Wrist problems are common, flexibility is a cause (or lack). Barbell is only being held by fingers on shoulders (arms parallel to ground and elbow high) most people put the barbell in front of shoulders and the wrist takes the load.

I know there are people here who will explain better or tell me I’m wrong.

My wrists hurt occassionaly but very rarely.

I now do them with only the bar in contact with my shoulders(of course) and I don’t even touch the bar with my hands-can’t since I have such poor flexibility in the upper body. I keep the arms extended straight out in front of me while doing them and it has worked well. Saw this tech. on JV Askem’s site which is mostly for olympic lifting and related training, etc.
