For me, what would be a decent 30m time?

if you take a look into one of my others threads, mainly the ‘beginner sprinter…’ thread in the new to training section, you will be able to see my stats and background.

well today i undertook my 30m test and i ran a 5.62sec.

is this really slow?

i know its slow compared to others

but whats weird is that i recorded it on camera, and re-timed it on the computer and i got a 4.92.

so i don’t know which one to do? i kept on re-timing the computer one and i kept on getting 4.92, 4.93, 4.91. which one should i follow?

anyway, is that slow for me?

How were you timing these? If those are hand timed there’s no way telling how accurate they are. At least 5.6 seconds sounds like jogging pace so I would take the 4.9 as more accurate. There are several split time examples for the 100m here on this forum for different level athletes, just do a search. But you need electric timing on such short distances as 30 meters to get reliable times.

yeah these were hand timed. i just have no access to electronic timing

for the next best thing, have the timer also start you. that way they start the timer at the same time as they give the go signal.

as for your time, i would guess it would be faster than 5.x seconds just from watching your video on a different thread but try to get a legit time first, then compare. also what surface was it run on, with blocks, with reaction time, weather/wind, etc.

a grassy unlevel surface, no blocks, from a standing start, with reaction time, no wind or weather

was it pretty much the same surface as in your video on a different thread?? if so, that has a HUGE effect on time and thus you really cant compare to somebody who uses blocks, doesnt use reaction time, on a hard level track surface, etc. your time is faster than you think. is this the best running surface that you have access to?

btw, you have heart and a good work ethic, you will see huge improvements, no doubt !

that wasn’t best surface, the other surface i have access to is another grassy surface, just not as unlevel.

thanks for the lower comments
