Flys useful for acceleration?

Since most sports are mostly <30m accels, is there any point in doing flying runs with say a 20m run-up? I remember C Francis saying that for football there wouldn’t be an advantage in having a run-up greater than 10m. Then again he says that Ben would have a noticeable jump in his races @ around the 10m mark, since this was the same velocity that he would hit in his flying runs(I’m guessing 20m run-ups?). Can somebody clarify this?
