Fairly basic question i know. But are there any factors, other than the ones listed below, that will prevent full hip extension?
- Lack of strength
- Lack of hip mobility- internal rotation, any others?
- Pelvic position (anterior tilt) cutting off glute involvement
Tightness in adductor longus
Tightness in any muscles that perform hip flexion will limit hip extension.
Lacking a complete/full arm-swing.
The number one suspect- struggling/fighting for speed instead of relaxing
Also look at the general position of the pelvis. if everything looks okay in terms of the hip flexors, take a look bilaterally at the postion of the ilium. if stuck posteriorly, may also inhibit hip extension
