on the topic of using a dynamic day such as 50-60% squats, has anyone considered that using these weights not only improves RFD but more importantly helps to improve reactive-strength and acceleration-strength. while these weights dont need to be used to increase RFD because of the sprints being done, wouldnt they be useful for these characteristics?
No
Acceleration strength is a component of RFD and reactive strength is trained more effectively and specifically through sprinting (or plyometrics).
so then why would any athlete train with low percentage weights? why wouldnt athletes simply lift with 85%+ weights and run sprints and do jumps. such as in my case i train to get fater and jump higher for basketball, why wouldnt i just want to lift heavy and do lots of jumps and sprints for RFD and power enhancement?
stupid question, what’s ‘RFD’?
rate of force development

- To stimulate hypertrophy
- To avoid overtraining
- To decrease risk of injury
but as power and explosiveness its really not necessary?
