Would you reccommend EMS for recovery purposes to beginning athletes who don’t have access to massage or physiotherapy? What about strength wise? I was thinking that it would be best to save it until the athlete begins to plateau.
For a beginner, I’d reserve EMS as a recovery aid.
Would this be any different for a young athlete? In CFTS, you say Ben’s development of power was promoted by the introduction of EMS at an early age.
I think we are referring to training age here. Ben might have been young, but by 18 he already had a serious base under him.
Another Q about EMS… can it be used for the hip flexors or adductors?
I’d also be interested in knowing which muscle groups can and can not be treated with EMS. Does it depend purely on the size of the pads that you have available? Do big pads limit treatment of the smaller muscles?
I know that small muscles such as the biceps calves and triceps tend to “curl up” if you were to use EMS for full strength contractions. For recovery it would be fine i suppose ansd i have also used it for the hip flexors for recovery but not in strength building.
