Doesn't add up

I raced last Saturday and my races were.
100m form felt good but time of 13.89 (wind -0.8) was disappointing and surprising even though PB is 13.48.
200m felt good and I worked harder especially with arm drive. The issue is my time…it looks too quick as it would be a 2.21 secPB  which is a shit load and is faster than my 100m PB x 2…time was listed as 26.42. If they had put 28.42 I would be pleased or 27.42 I would be jumping for joy but it just seems too fast.

I haven’t seen the full results yet but there were some pretty quick times (admittedly they all seem quick to me  ), as usual I finished last so I can’t even compare my time against someone I beat and didn’t really notice how far behind next last I finished (I was in lane 8).

Could it just be that I did do that time and should accept it?
Or am I right to be a bit suspicious?

John, do you have the special endurance work behind you this fall to justify a healthy increase in finess?

I am an inexperienced Masters athlete and only have a handful of races under my belt but haven’t made any drastic changes to my training recently.

Hmm. The masters sprinters in my group of similiar experience to you, with PB’s of around 13.5 have 200m PB’s of 27.5 and up. Perhaps you were right to be a bit suspicious, but you never know. You night be born for the 200! The next 200m will tell all.

my thoughts exactly, in fact I am now thinking of doing a 400m to see how that goes  I haven’t even done one in training because I know what a bastard / killer it is…thought I’d save the experience for a race otherwise I’ll wimp out  .

Thanks for the reply.

400 eh? Brave man, but do a few 300’s in training before you tackle that monster!
