Does Massage Work?

I would also like to know…

BTW- I have searched for ARP http://www.newathlete.net/injuries.html at my level of understanding (very low for this technique) It reminds me of a technique I have experienced here in canada “Matrix Repatterning” http://www.matrixrepatterning.com/practitioners/Pr_video.htm . I only talk about scanning protocol. They differ in that matrix search for primary structural vs CNS problems for ARP.

This method may seem “unscientific” at first for the vast majority, but I would say without any hesitation that this Is the best treatment I have ever had in my entire life.

This would be my rating by method:

1-Matrix repatterning (1 therapist who was a chiro also) fast and with no pain, very surprising method, with chiro, she was frustrated of always seen all her patient come back for other treatments and never actually healed 100%. Then she started Matrix, and after 2-3 treatments, patient leave pain free etc. They never have to come back except when there was other traumatic shocks.

2-Osteopathy (2 therapist) More soft than chiro and more precise
3-Self Trigger points + MET require much work+may produce inflammation, but works great
4-Applied kinesiology (4 therapist) Can do It for some, they always do the same things
5-Chiropractic (4 chiro) cric crac croc, 2-3 triggers…bye bye…see you in two days
6-Massage (4 therapist) the vast majority do almost nothing
7-Physio (4 therapist also) thank God It was free treatment…

I also understand that results may vary greatly with each problems and with each therapist, I only can bring my limited experience here.

Im afraid, anyone who at the current time and knowledge uses quantum physics to explain anything they do in the field (human performance) does just senseless babbling and doesn’t understand too much (if anything) about physics.

Really smart post! Merry Christmas.

This is a useless list, because this isn’t our way.

For reference, I’ve written above some author, please search with google.

Im glad you acknowledge. Thank you. If others on this bard have the minimal algebraic knowledge to understand even the very basic quantum physics, they will also see how great my post was:P

Merry Christmas to you too.

ok
Google seach came up with:
Book Title: Wellness at Warp Speed
Author: Dr. Noah McKay M.D.
Publisher: Palace Press & Orion Research Institute

Book Summary:
When he hit a wall with conventional care, Dr. Noah McKay M.D. turned to the Breath of Fire (a Kundalini yoga technique), fasting, and prayer to recover from life-threatening heart disease. Inspired and rejuvenated, he returned from his six-month disability to build Washington States’ largest private integral practice. From twelve locations his practice offered conventional and alternative medicine seven days a week and managed over 90,000 patient-visits annually.

The Body Electric: Electromagnetism and the Foundation of Life
By Robert O. Becker, Gary Selden

Product Description

In this landmark book, Robert O. Becker, M.D., a pioneer in the field of bioelectric science, presents a fascinating look at the role electricity plays in healing, challenging the traditional mechanistic model of the body. Colorful and controversial, this is a tale of engrossing research, scientific and medical politics, and breakthrough discoveries that offer new possibilities for fighting disease and harnessing the body’s healing powers.
The Body Electric
The information was not what I expected in regard to a misleading title. Anyone in the acupuncture field, as I am, should not be persuaded to buy this book. It basically deals with reptilian experiments done 50 or more years ago. It is a biology book, in a sense. I wish I had not purchased it!

• Becker, Prof. Robert O. – Showed that living organisms have an electrical field around themselves, which changed with illness. He also showed that electromagnetic frequencies go through the meridians, -the body’s mostly unexplored information system.

Traditional medicine is based on biochemistry. Energetic medicine is based on biophysics. They are two totally different fields. However, energetic medicine can complement traditional medicine; by correcting problems in the informational field, it can help speed up the healing process. While energetic medicine is non-invasive, it can work hand in hand with modern medicine to redirect the body’s informational field into a healing matrix.

After much searching - everying that comes up is still “selling it-self” without giving out What it actually is.
One page i read, had a picture of some lady sitting in a chair with a Electrical head piece on attached to a computer. The Computer then tells in her electrical fields need Addressing.

To me, it appears that, some computer program Looking for human electrical “virus” - and one day NORTON will develop a program to Clean your system, and when that happens, there will be guys out there sending out purpose built virus via electronically send messages, YOU OPEN A TEXT MSG FROM YOUR PHONE AND BANG, YOUR PHONE SENDS YOU A VIRUS.

Try to understand theory and not application!
I don’t use electroshock to recover my athletes, and I understand that many alternative therapy are bullshit and waste of time.
There is a great difference to use a stone on a chakra and balance the nervous system.

An interesting book is THE BODY ELECTRIC.

The author of that book is an idiot, at least from the point of view of his physics. He understands as much quantum physics as my cat understand general relativity.

Quote from the editorial review on amazon.com

“He began delving into quantum science and the formulas of Einstein, Heisenberg, and Bell”

What a joke.

Anyone of you can check with a physics university teacher how much physics the guy understands. Nada.

Its really sad when so many individuals who do not understand quantum physics try to use it to explain whatever crosses their mind using quantum theory, or more precisely, the very misnomers the call "science’.

unfortunately, quantum physics is very non-intuitive. Trying to make sense of it in a intuitive, popular way will get you nowhere. You can get the bases correctly only by rigorous mathematical approaches (real analysis, calculus of variations, linear algebra at very minimum) . Once you get a powerful grip on the mathematical theory, you can start to worry about interpretations (what it really means for us) on quantum mechanics. Unfortunately, the brightest minds of modern physics do not agree yet on a interpretation of quantum mechanics.

Yet more and more Gurus try to use quantum physics (or should I say… the phantasmagoria they think is quantum mechanics)as a explanation for their theories or for experimental results they cant explain.

Its really sad.

Neurology cant be superior to biology , for those two cant be directly compared.

Neurology is is a medical specialty dealing with disorders of the nervous system. This is a widely accepted definition, and there is no need we invent new ones.

Very different things, biology and neurology.

A hearth attack doesn’t happen in the brain first.

A bullet into your head may indeed happen first into your brain (if we ignore skull).

Perception and reaction of / to a stimulus doesn’t happen in the brain first. You see, at a very minimum the eye is the transducer, the brain process the information and instructs an effector to react.

Biology cant be defined as a subset of neurology, for the simple fact that those two (biology and neurology) have widely accepted definitions at the current time

Now if like to call white , blue, that’s ok with me.

Unfortuantely, science is much more than 'experience" alone.

Experience alone is a empirical approach. Which may work very well and give outstanding results, but is not science. It requires much more than experience to be considered science.

We are very far away from any point here. My point, made earlier, was that skill in a particular area can trump much else. In an earlier head to head with ARP, I was able to get more shift with Omega Wave through massage than was the new ARP operator. Now, several years of experience later by that operator (my experience is prob peaked), would the results be the same? I’m certain that they would not be.
I am very interested in this entire field and I hope people have a sufficiently open mind, beyond narrow definitions.

Charlie, could you talk a little bit about different massage techniques? What differences do you notice with different techniques and how do you determine which to use on a given athlete? Obviously this doesn’t have to go into great detail or anything, but in general how do you decide what type to use? Thanks,

ahahah are you sure?

I’ve finished here, first for respect to Charlie and CF.com forum and then because speak about new ideas is a waste of time, protective reaction incoming…

CIAO

Actually, speaking about new ideas is great.

The only problem arise when you mix quantum mechanics (in fact the voodoo some book authors try to pass as quantum mechanics, because they dont understand anything from physics )and the likes with kinesiology.

CIAO

Sad because I was hoping to hear some information from Jamirock/Pakewi. It seems as-if any questions are considered unnecessary criticism, so I am not sure how to learn more about their ideas if you cannot ask about them.

The quantum mechanics stuff is a bit laughable, though I’d hate to throw out the baby with the bath water with regards to bioelectricity and bioelectromagnetism.

Let us talk information and control systems, not quantum physics here.
Becker’s book is interesting as well many others on the topic, some of which were pointed out to me by Charlie himself a few years ago, like: Biologically Closed Electric Circuits by Dr.Nordstroem.

Biophysics is a legitimate emerging branch of physics. Many of today universities offer courses in medical physics ( the real stuff, not the vodoo).

It is a promising field, and Im sure there are countless applications in the field of human performance , over a whole range, from monitoring to inducing training effects. The field is progressing fast and, as I said, legitimate.

I agree, and in my color blindness let legitimate science catch up,hoping that definitions do not get in the way in the meantime…

Yes,Charlie, the results would be very different, although I would be somewhat reluctant to consider your experience…peaked!
