MDskillz:
What would happen if someone worked out 7 days straight with intense weight training and light plyometrics in order to completely kill his CNS, and then rested for 2-3 weeks, allowing his CNS to fully recover? Wouldn’t he reap amazing gains? The body would be forced to adapt quick, or it would surely die. This type of training would induce hyperplasia, so long as all the workouts were explosive and hard-hitting. Marathon runners are known to have significantly lower slow-twitch fibers than an average person because everything they do pertains to being slow, but involving a lot of endurance. They walk long distances to get from place to place – they never sprint. And when they go to train, they lift weights with minimal resistance, and high reps, or they jog mile after mile. Basically, Marathon runners are living life in slow-motion. Let’s reverse this concept and do the same with someone wanting to soar above all his competition, or run like a gazelle, and only do it for 1 week. Imagine how much he would gain, he would be jumping out of this world.
Wouldn’t you agree?
“The body would be (1) forced to adapt quick, or (2) it would surely die.”
Option 2 sounds about right!
BTW, while a 10 to 14 day recovery period will allow the CNS to recover- this is not infinitely repeatable. Fry yourself several times in succession and your year is over!
