determining training needs

I will do some cyclo-cross this fall to stay in shape. These are races on a bike that include short runs carring the bike over low hurdles(6-16 inches) run distance anywhere from 3-4 steps to 100 meters. Terrain flat to uphill. The overall race times are 1hr. What would the training demands be for running. It is obvious that the runs are as fast as possible but when the fatigue of the overall races sets in it is slow running. My question is would the run training be like sprint training or would it be more middle distance?
