Core stability


if you have a weak core, will this effect the force your legs put into the track?
How can you evaluate how strong your core is?


A weak core will definitely decrease the force you can apply to the track, because your body will be twisting a lot.

How strong is the rest of you? Without knowing your leg power, it’s hard to say what core strength is needed. The stronger the rest of your body, the stronger your core needs to be.

yes a weak core will hurt you. As mentioned there will be some unwanted movement, as well you will fatigue quicker and will be unable to hold the sprint position needed for optimal speed.

Ive worked on strengthening the posterior chain and have made good progress. Must not have paid enough attention to the core though. Ive been assessed and told i have very weak obliques
