How would one go about training through the winter months without an indoor track? I am talking about cold cold weather with snow maybe from mid-Dec to mid-March. Only facilities are the outdoor track, all-purpose gyms with wood floors and the concourse area of our basketball arena. How cold is too cold? Would this change the overall process for developement by concentrating on the longer stuff earlier? Would speed be different? More accel and SE than Max Velocity? Would tempo runs be different? Considering a job that would move me from the Southwest to the Northeast so I am trying to get a feel for this. I am originally from the Northeast, but never coached there without an indoor track. Charlie, how much indoor work did your group do? Thanks for any input.
