Clemson: The most powerful and fastest animals sleep 12-20hrs a day.

… and taking it right before hitting the pillow doesn’t work either Quik?

My biggest fear training-wise is not getting enough sleep.

I think it is completely underrated - sleep is so necessary for all aspects of your life from your love life to your personalitly, friendships to athletic performance.

I need from 8 to 10 hours - rarely if ever get that though more like 7 - 5 hours most nights - but I try and make it up at the weekends.

I try and use naps - great GH benefits.

no23,
I sympathize. I’m in the same boat. It seems like such an easy thing to do, but I have so much to do in any given day, it’s very hard to get the 8+ hours I need during the week no matter how much of a conscious effort I make.

I know bodybuilders train, eat, and sleep for like 12-16 hours/day, but my personal philosophy is you sleep when you die! My athletes however sleep plenty. I normally tell them to try and maintain a balance between your stresses (training, school, work, etc.) and your recovery. Life is about balance!!

“Without balance in life a man falls down”

Easier said than done though, thats why everyone falls!

I’ve found that I feel sleepy after doing weights and often have a 15-20 min nap. It works for me. I’m big raps for naps…

I have extra trouble sleeping after high intensity workouts? (6 hours later)

Try a hot bath with some chamomile tea a couple of hours before bed. About an hour before bed pop some St. Johns Wort or GABA.

A hot bath after a high intensity workout? Wouldn’t that lead to recovery problems?

Well not right after the workout but before bed. The water doesn’t have to be hot just fairly warm. It tends to induce sleep not long after.
