BEIJING, China – St Vincent and The Grenadines team manager Leroy Llewellyn has tipped Jamaican Usain Bolt to win the marquee men’s 100 metres at the Olympic Games.
The official said the event would be close, however, with Jamaican Asafa Powell expected to produce a strong threat.
"It’s going to be one of the two. My bet would be on Usain. I believe that Asafa is always too late out of the blocks. If he can get out early he can provide some competition," said Llewellyn.
The men’s 100 metres will provide the fireworksat the August 8 to 24 Games, with Bolt, Powell and American Tyson Gay expected to go head-to-head in a titanic clash.
Powell and Gay, who headlined the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, last year, were expected to shine, but Bolt, who holds the world record after his 9.72-seconds blitz in New York in May, turned the equation with his recent outstanding performances.
