why not run the 200m downwind? :confused:

Mainly due to, i got my 1st race next weekend, at that track i was at, and wanted everything to be done the direction that the races will be, which happened to be windy and blowen into me face!! And, if its blowen the same direction next weekend, it gives me a slight advantage over those that only run with it, i hope?

I’m guessing you’ll be running 200, anything else?

doing the 60, 100 and 300.
Tis been 6yrs since the last time i raced… And that was over 800m!
After so many yrs of mid distance work, i wont be expecting anything flash, even in the 300, its only been approx 2-3mnths since resuming running, and i need some more special endurance, 300 will be that bit too far at this stage, but i will give it a go. It was at least 4m head wind yest. and has been windy every day for weeks now. So i guess its more of, see how i go against other poeple?

Am pissed. Turned up to the track, and a closed sign is up, along with a bunch of trucks and sea containers around the place. So i ask at reception, and it seems they are getting ready for a concert, U2 i believe? So they need to take up 2 ovals for the next 10days, both tracks closed. By the time i get back home, that been 2hrs in the car, including picking up the kids from school… :mad: :mad:
I was looking forward to training today…
What to do now? There is a grass oval nearby, but it i get there, that will be 5pm, and dark by 6, and it looks like rain? NO one to look after the kids for when it gets dark. Might just have to use the ellipital trainer of the misses and do plenty of explosive med ball drills?

3 min on rower.

explosive med ball throws n chase
squat throws x 6 x 10kg
Quad jumps and throw x 4 x 10kg
Plyro’s 4 sets of 10 - knee height

3 min of rythme on the boxing speed ball.

EMS quads, hammies and glutes
Hammies and glutes are heaps heigher in intensity volume than they were only 5days ago! Really cranking up the voltage on em.

Forgot to add, 4 sets of 30m high knees.

The news are predicting storms tonight, lasting over the wkend. From tomorrow, is competition. Of course its storms, i am due to race, its my “good luck charm”…
Thats ok, last wk i ran some Into the Head Wind efforts, so, it looks like it will pay off. Will be slow times all around, the winds today are pretty strong. So it makes it more about the racing.

The wind can help you if you handle it better than the others. Sometimes people try so hard to battle the wind that they don’t run as efficiently as they normally do.

THanks guys. i will attempt to maintain my technique, though i hope to maintain it more from due to a 1st race in 5-6yrs v’s a headwind… Though, being almost confident in a wind/rain environment, i just goto be confident to run relaxed during a short event against others? During Mid distance, i was suppreamly relaxed, asleep looking… But with these sprints, these short dashes, i have been struggling to maintain relaxation when just being filmed or timed??? I think, get a few races, learn to race again, to “sleep” during the race and all should be good.
Bring on the wind, its getting really strong here by late afternoon.

Was poring with rain. 1st time out of blocks in about 2yrs. stuffed it good. came out right arm right foot??? What the…
THen, as i started to get to speed, something was not right, i was running pigioned toe’d??? The water loged shoes and socks put my feet into a weird position, which stuffed me??? I cruised the last 20-30m of the 100.
Tomorrow, forcasts are for mostly fine. I better take a spare pair shoes just in case. 60m.
Also, untill about 1min to go, i was mentally fine, possably too relaxed? Then, i just started to panic?? I have been nervous before, thats fine, welcomed, But panacking? oh, well, get the 1st race out of the way, run crap, then it can only get better.

Being pretty upset at how crap i ran yest, not one step i would consider any good, i made myself more mad before i ran the 60m today.

Today there was no rain, but the wind came back. NOt too bad, or anything to bother about.
Excellant reaction time. 1st 10m was perhaps = 1st. Better than Last yest. in the 100.
Had a lapse of concentration about 35m, was thinking about my tight hammies, i could only feel them at the uppermost leg raise, 5m later, i was back to full stride and driveing the arms.
Must have been a blacket finnish, apart from 1st, he was about 1.5m in front. I must have got outdipped, as i diidnt medal (i think i seen the right age group placegetters?). Couldnt imagin it being worse than 4th, as i could only see at most 2guys in front, 1 for sure, 1 maybe. Would have been interesting to see the photo finnish.

Will do some workout this arvo, push ups med balls ect.
Will have to finnish off with some Tens on the upper hammies.
