so whats up with this stuff…sounds a lot like power drive…but it is supposed to be better…

i liked power drive …

HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS…

im actually thinking about getting it…

I have a bottle and it seems to work pretty well. There is CNS stimulation for sure. I could tell by my increased power output. They say on the biotest site that it is good for CNS stimulation and recovery. I will have to keep using it to see what it can really do. I would like to know of the best way to use this product for CNS recovery/supercompenstation

do u take it everyday?

or just before training…or morning of training/compeition days?

It’s Sulbutiamine. Not all natural like power drive. More of an artificial “speedy” type supplement. It might even be banned by the IOC you might wanna check that out.

i couldnt find sulbutiamine anywhere??

SPIKE™ Formula 350 mg *
T-MAX? (Biotest proprietary Nano-Dispersed Gel? thiamine di(2-methylpropionate disulfide), caffeine, lauroyl macrogol-32 glycerides

i didnt find any of those on that site either…

so can i assume this is ok??

Anafit.com has a great CNS formula called neurogenix. I am not a sprinter, but I am a powerlifter and the neurogenix works great for focus and cns recovery.

Neurogenex is a great formula and contains a good blend of nootropics. Still I would add a adaptagen and a little caffiene. For 38.00 a month it is a bit pricy.

a few questions:

#1- Is powerdrive still available or has it been discontinued?

#2- Clemson, can you speak a little more on adaptogens? I know of one company (naturahealth) that sells them but can you tell me more about them and the effects of using them?

Adaptogens are compounds that deal with fatigue symptoms and helping the body “rewire” it’s own natural recovery abilities. The problems with much of the research is that no clear mechanisms are present and one product that isn’t bad (very expensive) is the firstendurance.com product optygen. I have been on one product that is currently in Beta mode and feel great. I don’t have more “energy” per say but less sluggishness.

The CNS fatigue roundtable in Europe last year hinted to supplementation and I have the CD from Hakken Anderson and one particular expert who shall be nameless swears by them. I find that extracts are a bit hard to swallow (no pun intended) but many nootropics help prime the brain for training.

I currently take a ALCAR/Tyrosine/ Vinpocetine with an adaptogen ( with a trace amount of caffeine ) and I am doing great with my training.

What I feel is like whatever I have for the day is maximized…not hash stimulation like hydroxycut or similar product. Just clean burning nerves. Randy and Frit17, what do you think? I think the key for any preworkout formula is to make you maximize what you have and not ignoring your body…if you are tired then adjust. Sometimes you want to help recover from the feelings of fatigue that may linger…

Powerdrive is still available from what I see…does this help?

Good reply. Thanks! Do you cycle your ALCAR/Tyrosine/ Vinpocetine / adaptogen in any way?

RE: Cycling…

I have my athletes use the therapeutic dose during tempo days and 4-6 tabs preworkout. I like to use it during the GPP and SPP more and try to use higher amounts of therapy during comp phases. I don’t think it masks symptoms any but I would like Charlie’s opinions. His BCAA and Nootropic info is great and I have used the information with great results.

4-6 tabs of?

I’ve used a BCAA mix during workouts for a several years. I recall hearing ( and do feel it ) about a possible stimulant-like effect and was wondering about the mechanism behind it. Any thoughts?

What’s ALCAR?

Is Spike recommended? Or should one stay away from it? I heard that it’s a stimulant. As for power drive, i’ve heard a lot of good things about it but its rather expensive. Should track and field athletes take these kind of supplements?

I would be careful with sulbutiamine, I haven’t got information if it’s banned or not. It’s not listed, but modafinil wasn’t originally listed either…

Powerdrive, on the other hand, is 100% legal. Good stuff also.

I believe sulbutiamine is 2-methypropionate disulfide.

yes i think thats correct

i searched for both of those ont he IOC site from athletics.ca and did not find them on the banned list of substances,

Sulbutiamine is a B-vitamin. Great stuff, especially when you are getting to the point of near overtraining. 500-600mg morning and night when this happens will save your training, big time.

It’s been a long time zeppelin! Where have you been?

I find the above combinations to work amazing. It’s the very subtle, but the impact is incredible. Like you said “clean burning nerves”. The focus is great with no ill effects. I had this big guy at my gym try it (after I explained that it was going jack up his lifts :o ) and he felt the same way, tremendous focus without any problems.

Great stuff Clemson!!! I’m eagerly waiting for more
