Do you all think Carl would have had a greater chance to beat Ben if Carl had started lifting weights early in his life. I really don’t think so but on Ato boldon’s website I believe that it said he would have been a lot faster. It might just be my opinion that Ben is better but do you think if Charlie was the coach of Carl he would have been a lot faster.
How is it possible to quantify the difference between coaching and talent?
carl was able to perform a 9.86 with no weights.he was actually very weak at lifting but at the same time very, very explosive for such a tall man.strenght dosen’t always=faster times.
tom tellez was the suitable coach for carl just as charlie was suitable for ben.if vesa versa had of happened as in TT coaching BJ i don’t think BJ would have been as successful,in the other hand the same can be said if carl was to be coached by CF.
i can answer that very easily.
you can have all the talent in the world BUT in order to harness that talent you need proper coaching.
you can be coached to be good but talent alone will not make you faster.talent and proper coaching=results
So you all not think Lewis would have been faster if Francis could have coached him. I feel that he would have because Charlie understands the body of Ben and Carl. Charlie could have for sure man him run faster.
By the way Carl was lifting some weights at the time he ran 9.86 in Tokyo

Experiment on identical twins separated at birth.
Its a tough one. Especially as some athletes are more suited to being coached one way than another.
All I can say is that talent is first and foremost. As they say, you can’t polish a turd.
You could wrap the turd in tinfoil, put fish hooks in it and sell it to the Queen as earings.
HEHEHE HEEHE HE HEEHE HEHEEE:mrt:
so you would think lewis would have been faster if francis had of coached him
totally the opposite.who knows anyway!!
the fact is that tellez worked good for CL and charlie worked good for ben
Better=Carl Lewis, consistency alone
Faster=Ben Johnson ran a faster time
Most prestigious and revered=definitely Carl Lewis
What this all means=Nothing, the new question is… Tim or Mo, and will either of them win when it counts this year?
How was Carl Lewis more consistent than Ben? Ben ran faster times, more often and correct me if I’m wrong but Ben was the one who was called Robocop, due to his ability to run so fastly at so many meets during the year.

So you’re saying you can quantify talent too?
Dazed they are as improtant as one another.they both go hand in hand.take for example Tim Montgomery…
Tim holds the WR
without proper coaching he wouldn’t have reached that level even though he ran 9.99 as an 18year old.he ran that time due to coaching, proper coaching and planning and of course talent.you see thats in unison!
HSI are getting great exposure over in europe with help from eurosport which followed there sessions over the last few months.during a block session John Smith told Greene that his talent was working against him because of his block clearence.if JS wasn’t there for him he would be wasting his talent but the fact is that he is there watching every move MG makes so that he can make adjustments to his technique thus making him smoother/faster.
first of all,you need talent to be a WR holder but also you need a special coach with plans
prophet,
Consistent as in, more years of consistency, he has the most olympic medals than anyone, if im not mistaken, and tied for most olympic golds, how lond did ben johnson’s reign as “robocop” last?
