James Smith 10yrs from now!! I’m joking James.
l400 is this how you guys do it in AL?
RMFT!
Somebody here is buddies with that guy I think.
James are you that kind of “rah rah drill instructor” strength coach?
If I had to guess - No. I need to learn to be a “rah rah” guy because college coaches like that.
Haha you gotta learn the full metal jacket routine, “get it gooood”, “feel that burn boys”.
Full Metal Jacket…
Private Cowboy: Don’t $hit me, man!
Private Joker: I wouldn’t $hit you. You’re my favorite turd!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: How tall are you, private?
Private Cowboy: Sir, five-foot-nine, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Five-foot-nine, I didn’t know they stacked $hit that high.
Not even close. My influence didn’t come from coaches because I never interned or GA’d under any.
My influence came from SEAL instructors and believe it or not, very few of them, in my experience, even remotely behave like the ‘drill instructor’ stereotype.
As far as characterizing my coaching tactics, I welcome anyone to come and visit, as long as you’re not from a school we play this year, and see for yourself.
Can I come visit.
Interesting you mention SEAL Instructors, back when I was in college I went to Coronado to view BUD/S training and noticed very little to no yelling and certainly not much di behavior. Teamwork and professional was the attitude. This is the same with other branch Special Operation people I have met.
Sure unless you end up at the U.
Correct. What year were you in Coronado?
Sweet. Thanks
Trying to get in at the U with Swasey?
April 98. It was cool, they would just let you call them up and walk in with an escort back then. A guy from Team 3, who had just graduated took me around.
Rb34 I’m actually over here in God’s country right now, shoot me your cell and I’ll text you some pics of the statues of all the coaches who won National Championships.
Missed me by 11 months. I got there March of 99.
Were you in the Navy?
5 years. Thought everyone here knew. Went through Hell week with class 227,and 2nd phase with 229 then got performanced dropped for failing too many 4mile timed runs 5 days before 3rd phase. Went back 2 years later with class 243 and got medically dropped 2nd night of hell week for repeated bouts of severe hypoglycemia.
Cool! I didn’t medically qualify for military service because of what they called chronic kidney stones.
Guess I’m kinda glad now I was crushed back then. I did a week long civilian pre BUD/S course run by an ex-SEAL, needless to say it took a lot not to quit that, 6 months straight would be tough a he’ll. I’m pretty sure I would have never met the 4 mile run timed runs.
