Applying power

I have started work with a knew coach, a guy called Gareth Lease, Dave Lease’s (jason Gardener’s ex-coach, now helps Darren Campbell et al.) son, so his technical knowledge is good, and with Dave overlooking us every now and then, it’s a good team to have behind us. Gaz said to me I don’t apply my power on the track at all well. He videoed me yesterday and I could see what he means. He said technically I don’t look bad but I’m just not using the strength that I have, and that plyometrics will help with the application. Can anyone one help me with regards to what aspects of technique I should think about whilst running to help me apply more power? I just look a bit ‘dainty’ when I run, almost looks like I’m just tippy toeing down the track. Any help would be much appreciated!!! Cheers guys.

Same question ???
also, i can run steping about 5 times per second, just like elite sprinters but times are not so well, it´s a question of how i´m aplying forces over track ? or how long ?
I watched myself running, looks like my shins are landing in a negative form, like this: /
as elite sprinters leg land like this: \
which means, i´m not using all the space i need to aply forces over track right ?

I would think your shins want to land pretty much perpendicular to the track. This is because you want to strike pretty much directly underneath the centre of gravity, and unless your hips are dropping significantly, your leg should be near full extension relatively speaking, therefore not allowing your shins to be anything far from vertical.

if you start “trying” to apply force you will educate yourself ina bad way.by doing so you will end up thumping the track and thus landing heavy which is not what you want to do.with proper use of plyros, time and proper training it will happen.

my advice to you is go and see cambell train and listen when he hits the ground at top speed.come back to me and tell me what you think.
