another retarded question: is this muscle tight?

In my neverending quest to cure my shin splints, I came across another possibility of a tight muscle causing pain. I feel an insanely strong stretch in the calf/hamstring tie-in when I do any “hamstring” stretch but point my foot up(dorsiflex).

So I experimented with a new way to easily and effectively stretch that area, and even though it didn’t really feel like I loosened up the area THAT much, I went from just being able to touch the floor with the first half inch of my fingers in the toe-touch stretch to being able to put both my fists to the ground. That’s a HUGE difference in range of motion!! I was actually able to put my fists to the ground while standing on a 45lb plate too, so right after loosening it up I gained a huge ROM in that motion.

Does this necessarily mean that muscle group is tight though??? Could that muscle being tight be a cause for my shin splints(medial tibial) ??

its always a good idea to get the lower leg treated, usually shin splints is caused from the Tibiablis posterior muslce been inflamed and rubbing on the shin.

but usually the calves in general get tight, so i would get it all loosened up.
