Adaptative Stiffness

What is adaptative stiffness? I keep seeing it pop up in your writing.

He’s refering to DOMs and muscle tightness when you change your training too quickly. E.g. when you do something you havn’t done before you get stiff - such as the first time you try weight training.

Any stiffness is dangerous for sprinters (especially as you get to a highter level) because decreased muscle elasticity can potentially lead to muscle tears.

Is this ‘stifness’ happens only when you change exercises, or when you suddenly change load (intensity, volume) as well?
Then suddenly switching from structural/accumulation/max phase can cause this stiffness? So the transition should be smooth? Tnx TC…
