Acceleration/Lactate capacity in the same session

When is your own version of ‘Periodisation for Sports’ hitting the shops? A stocking filler, if ever there was one…

I understand periodization perfectly well thanks

I haven’t personally attacked anyone, I am just enjoying the discussion and absorbing different peoples points of view.

Cheers,
Chris

Your quoted periodized scheme has several major differences from the approaches typically used in the US and Canada by short sprinters.

First of all an aerobic component occurs throughout the whole season in the form of extensive tempo and to a lesser extent circuits/strength end. The volume shifts throughout the phases but an aerobic component in the form of extensive tempo is constant.

Also an acceleration component is present from the very first phase. The specificity of the speedwork changes as you progress and the emphasis shifts from quantity with reduced rest periods to quality with longer rest periods and reduced volume (as a general rule)

Weights also shift focus depending on if you go through a max strength training phase early in the season.

Generally a lot of athletes taper weights as the sprint quality improves throughout the season eventually going into a pure maintenance phase when sprint quality is extremely high and competitions/high CNS demand approaches.

Cheers,
Chris

I think it’s a very big mistake to personally attack someone like scarface. He usually gives good advice and is one of the few posters’ that is open-minded enough to listen and learn from other points of view. Challenge the opinions on its merit! Save the personal attacks for someone that truly deserves it!

maybe I was out of order, sorry! just get frustrated sometimes!

Is Correct in Preseason

O-2 week/// Aerobic Training

3-5 w/Intermittent training /CCVV by Bosco)

6 week 1x 15 repsx30 meters(10-15 sec rest between rep)

7w/ 1x 12 repsx30mt(20 sec rest)

8w/ 2x5 repsx30 mt(20" rest between reps and 5 minutes between set))

9week/2x4x30mt(idem 7 week)

10 weeks/Start Season

I give up, its like talking to a brick wall! All am going to say is good luck to you or your athletes if they are just going to 2 weeks of aerobic training!
Get my book when it comes out.

DID YOU EVEN READ MY POST?!

AEROBIC WORK IS DONE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN THE FORM OF EXTENSIVE TEMPO!!

I love this thread!! Keep it up…just like the old days here (battles and beef)

yes I did read your post. These extensive tempo runs just maintain your aerobic levels from your aerobic period, so once again I say good luck because after only doing two weeks of aerobic work this isn’t going to be much to maintain!

IS GOOD???

6 week 1x 15 repsx30 meters(10-15 sec rest between rep)

7w/ 1x 12 repsx30mt(20 sec rest)

8w/ 2x5 repsx30 mt(20" rest between reps and 5 minutes between set))

9week/2x4x30mt(idem 7 week)
… …
… …
10 weeks/Start Season

This can go on all year. you do what you do and i’ll do what I do and lets see who gets the fastest time over 200m in the indoor season despite me being 6ft5in. You must be able to back your time up though by providing an internet site which has the results.
do you accept?

I dont believe Blinky’s question was asked in the specifics of a 200m runner or how to run a fast 200m race. More towards sports with frequent short bursts of speed that have a low rest component and cross into lactic accum.

What is your PB in the 200 BTW?

Cheers,
Chris

this thread has evolved. 21.98

Is that indoors or outdoors? What is your age?

IS david going to take this bet or what?

I think we know what is going on here. You’re still using linear periodization with a bunch of useless phases and detraining going on. While we’re using a conjugate system and only doing what is necessary while constantly raising those components. FYI soccer players get good because of they play soccer, not because of the work some S&C coach did with them. In sports like track and powerlifting you cannot just mimic the competition and reach an elite level. That is why you are sitll using ineffective training methods and can’t understand what anyone on this site is saying.
