9.72 Splits

I don’t know if anyone else has seen these but I guess they give an idea. If anyone has the 9.74 splits, we can compare. I don’t remember exactly, but I think Powell ran faster to the 1st 80, and maybe 90. I remember reading Charlie say something about sub8.00 for the 1st 80.

I believe these times were added up after the reaction time was used. Withouth the reaction time, the times were just rounded up to the next 1/100th.

[RT] 0.157
00-10m: 1.71 (1.867)
10-20m: 1.05 (2.917)
20-30m: 0.90 (3.817)
30-40m: 0.85 (4.667)
40-50m: 0.83 (5.497)
50-60m: 0.82 (6.317)
60-70m: 0.83 (7.147)
70-80m: 0.85 (7.997)
80-90m: 0.85 (8.847)
90-100m: 0.87(9.717)

I had wondered if those were out yet, thanks.

Usain 0.157 1.71 1.05 0.90 0.85 0.83 0.82 0.83 0.85 0.85 0.87
Asafa 0.137 X.xx X.xx 0.91 0.86 0.84 0.83 0.83 0.83 0.86 0.90

Usain 0.157 1.87 2.92 3.82 4.67 5.50 6.32 7.15 8.00 8.85 9.72
Asafa 0.137 X.xx 2.88 3.79 4.65 5.49 6.32 7.15 7.98 8.84 9.74

As we already knew, Asafa slowed down a lot in the last 6-7 strides of his 9.74 and could have gone faster.

I believe PJ was going to do some type of analysis of the race once he had some free time. He did provide some insight on the 5.50 @ 50m. http://www.charliefrancis.com/community/showpost.php?p=192389&postcount=51

I did see a bit of doubt on the 0.87 of Bolt’s between 90-100m on other boards.

I would’ve liked to have seen a photo read printout of the finish from Lynx on this one.

So asafa would have been 9.71 had he not slowed down, we’ll see if he can recreate that speed once again this year.

And Usain perhaps 9.70 with no false start against the field and a 1.37 r/t

On the other hand, Usain was also lucky to get the start that he did. His 1st start was terrible (the false start start). If I remember where I saw it, I’ll post it.

I really didn’t found the time to analyse the material i’ve collected.
As for reaction time, for the first start, Bolt (lane 4) was 0.219 (slowest of the race), Gay (lane 5) 0.163. False start was on lane 7.

i find it amazing that everyone talks about bolts top end speed, but his acceleration is incedible and better than powel’s it seems. I never thought he got to top speed so quick…

I still think Powel is faster than bolt though, these numbers suggest that also and as soon as powel runs a race where he doesnt coast the last 20m, the WR will be his again…

Are you forgetting that his injury has prevented him from training and racing properly?

We wont know about Powell until the end of the season, dont forget Ben had that ham injury in 1988.

im saying, when powel is fit etc etc…probably not right now! but when he gets back to full fitness…

and i seriously dont think we can compare him to Johnson in 88…

I sure hope he’s getting the non-stop therapy that Ben got in 1988- usually 3 times a day!

Was each treatment the same or were certain areas treated differently throughout the day?

Different, ranging from accupuncture to EMS to massage etc

Never forget… 9.69

I wonder what the splits were for that run
