i know this forum is especially for 100-200 and 400 m sprints. But a good friend of me is training for 800m. She hasn’t got very good schedules because we don’'t have an 800m trainer. Sometimes she does 45m runs…and a bit of speed as well. This isn’t the optimal thing related to planning. So i was wondering where i could find some information about ‘training for 800m’. Can i find some info in a video of charliefrancis.com or is it also only 100-200 related ?
Use the search function at the top of the page-if you have not already. I know of at least one thread from years ago here, devoted to 800m training-probably more.
Better Training For Distance runners, by Peter Coe (book)
Winning running also by Peter Coe, however its much smaller and easier to read.
as pioneer says, there are some threads already covering this.
as for planning, the Vancourver DVD would help you in that regards. I think there is a new seminar dvd, but im not sure.
Check out the lactate threshold training thread in this forum, its 400m based, but some good planning and training ideas inside of it that can easily be used by a 400/800m runner. Its a massive thread, and the main guy to look for is Kitkat, its like, His thread…
Awsome books man. Read the winning running 1st to give you an idea, you’ll get through that book in like a day or two. The other, take your time, absorb the info, it could take a couple of months to not only read it, but to study it and understand it. Once you do, it should just all fall into place for you.
Good luck man, let us know how the plans work out.
