So a 2 day meet… 3 rounds of the 100 and then next day 2x 200m rounds (heats / finals) and 1x 4x100m relay.
Last year I went out too hard in the heats and semis and didnt have much left in the final. The goal is to qualify and come top 5 in the final to qualify for the next meet, my goal is to come 1st or 2nd.
So how should I run the heats/semis before the finals to be in PB ready form for the finals? without risking not qualifying because i went too easy or whatever… cause in the heats its going to be top 16 times, im confident of qualifying but still even a tinyy risk could be too much…
I would say to tank the first round and just make sure you get through. After that, I would run the semis hard enough to qualify with a solid time but not 100% unless it’s necessary.
Make sure you are fully warm and get out for the first 30 or so from the blocks and then you can decide how much effort you need to put out from there. What you don’t want to do is go out slowly and then have to press to qualify.
