35% high intensity / 65% low intensity. Ratio per ???

Hey,

Charlie gave his opinion of this ratio between hI/lowInt.

My question:

Should this ratio followed in terms of weekly volume or overall volume?

Another idea i had was this:

I m doing often (hI-low-rest) or of course [hI-low]-[high-low]. So i can call this sth like mini micro cycles(a whole week is a bigger micro).

So should i follow the ratio also in the little micro(2/3 days)? This would mean:

i.e.:
Doing 10x30m on Monday and then have a tempos volume of about ~1km the next day.

Or doing 10x60m on wednesday and then doing 2km the next day.

Could this be a solution to have a principle? My counter argument for this is: having a greater volume at speed work causes more fatigue, so that a tempo with less volume would be better.

Any ideas???

I don’t think you need to be as strict as you are suggesting. It is a guideline, not a rule.

thats clear to me…

Anyways, i m interested in this, bc it could be a possibility to plan the amount o tempos the day after - of course just if i m feeling to do so…

I don’t see the problem still. If you do 10x60m you have 600m of speed work. If you do 1200m of tempo, you have a total “meterage” of 1800 for those 2 days, with ~2/3 of it from tempo. This is way over simplification, but you get the idea. You would have to factor in weights/plyos/etc., but I don’t see what is difficult about it. Plus, if you go into the tempo session and are overly fatigued, you could cut the session short, as always. You could also drop the intensity on the tempo even lower than 75% into the 60’s or maybe even lower if you’re really feeling beat.
