2016 races

That race for Gatlin (9.74) in Doha was in 2015. Doha 2016 will take place on May 6th.

Can ask why you would say that? To me it seems he is racing on hate (that maybe be an extreme word), or at least to beat Bolt. Could he be better if he raced to break the WR?

Interesting comment, particularly given his inability to maintain focus on his own race at Worlds

Not sure if loosing focus was the real cause. Running 9,81s in QF and 9,7x in the semifinal might have cost him victory at the end. Not sure how many muscle fibers were left “ready to fire” for running close to his PB after that.

I think that’s what cost him 200m title as well! IF you look at how much unnecessary stress did he put his body through only with the 100… Final was surely draining as well even though it was slower than his semis.

Sorry KK400, my comment was too open ended. you are spot on in terms of the tone being an issue, which in itself is poor management for an elite sprinter. This is particularly so, given Gatlin is no rookie, which leads me to the conclusion that the poor management of his rounds reflects an athlete not focussed enough on his own race/ plan. Instead, it appears he was caught up in trying to unsettle Bolt.

Holy shit.

Yohan Blake also ran 9,95 this weekend.

Is it just me or did Gatlin’s transition looked different than we’re used to from 2015. He seemed a bit tight. Start was great however.

I completely agree here- got caught up trying to unsettle Bolt probably.

Great to see Blake back. Would be awesome to have all the big dogs fit and firing in Rio.

I wouldnt read into gatlins first 100 of the season
