2015 races

ato bold on used to be like that…

Some people have splayed feet. I would think if he had major chiro-type problems he would have had problems missing meets with injuries. But he ran against Bromell in the NCAA Indoor 200 (#7 performance all-time I think), and ran large numbers of events in Pac-12, NCAA Prelims, and NCAA finals, and that’s something like 20 races (including 4X100) in a very compressed schedule.

If these are problems, I’d like to know how to get some those 9.75 kinds of problems :o

As long as it doesn’t occur when sprinting. Dan Pfaff told me that a sprinter who makes ground contact with 10 degrees of external rotation will lose 1 meter by the time they hit the 60meter mark.

I’m sure his coach would love to find something to fix in training that would shorten his present 100m by 1.66m (=9.58!), but it doesn’t seem to be the case. He only splays his feet when he walks, at least as far as I can see in the 100m video.

Considering that Ben got checked by Waldemar between every rep at the height of his career, I’d say having a good team of therapists is a necessity.

Remember that Toronto has a very high concentration of excellent RMT’s, chiropractors, and other complementary medical practitioners. Now I’m not sure what the term “chiropractor” connotes in your area, but in Toronto it is common for quality chiropractors to be highly multidisciplinary.

De Grasse’s chiropractor is a passionate guy, and he would travel to the track on a weekly basis on his own personal time to treat the athletes in Tony’s young group at no charge. In addition, he has treated my athletes on countless occasions, and always ensures to treat them on his lunch hour to allow for additional time so he can give a high quality treatment even though his fee is the same as for his non-athlete patients.

De Grasse’s chiropractor in particular is not an over-manipulator of the spine, and is definitely wary of neck adjustments. He is very skilled at addressing alignment issues, and he also is a very good at managing soft tissue quality using ART, so he has a pretty good skill set. The one thing I think he could improve on is his knowledge of nerve roots and how they can increase efficiency of treatment and reduce the need to manipulate soft tissue.

The generosity of this particular chiropractor should be recognized, instead of his qualifications being questioned. He has gone out of his way to treat athletes for free for years. On a nice note, I know that he flew down to treat De Grasse before his runs at the qualifiers, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find he treated him before NCAA’s too, as obviously De Grasse is confident in his work. It is nice to see the generosity he displayed come full circle.

Candace Hill 100m 10.98 (2.0) US High School Record

she is a big girl

I thought she was a tall girl. I kept guessing about 5’10 to 6 ft

Hill is a little taller but not towering, I see her listed at 5’8", which seems about right. I was at that meet and most of the other girls in the race were much shorter (5’2"-4"). She still is a bit raw, the shorter girls left her at the start then she pulled ahead at 50m. Perfect conditions, but oddly the 100m boys all ran .1-.2 slower than their PBs with nearly the same wind (1.6).

Can you shed anything into this +2.6m/s announcement?

I didn’t even hear the announcement, the place was buzzing and I was sort of in shock, nobody could believe what they just saw. When she went to the podium it was definitely heralded as wind legal and a new record to a standing ovation. I’m still shocked this happened in a Seattle suburb at a low key meet. And the kid that ran the 1:47.55 looks great, super smooth and reminds of a young Rudisha with that skinny sprinter look.

WHy do you say it was lo key, Im in Florida and knew about the meet. THey had some of the best talent from around the nation

Wow! A very talented young woman.

I meant low key as in not a major championship (national, world junior/youth, etc), no TV coverage, no pro or college athletes. And with only 6 events it felt small.

Trayvon Bromell 9.84 (+1.3) in USATF 100m preliminary heats:

Notice him shutting down a bit into the finish, so maybe he could have gone 9.80-82.

Does anyone know why Gatlin is not running in the US champs. I thought selection for worlds was dependant on competing at the US champs and finishing in the top3 ???

I hate seeing collegiates beat pros at the us champs. it never fails, once the kids hit the world champs they drop a turd because of the super long college season they already had

he dont have to run cause he is the diamond league champ
