so if my 200m time is 25s, what would be 400m time?
today i run 400m, 300m were perfect and last 100m… was horrible, something happend with my back, than legs frozen, strides became very little,
time: 56,71
so with 25s 200m, what would be 400m?

There’s a rule that has been around for a long time.
For someone who is NOT a 400 specialist (training and talented for 400):
200_time * 2 + 4 seconds = 400_time
For someone who IS a 400 specialist, you add 3-3.5 seconds to double your 200 time. See Wariner and Merritt for instance. Doesn’t quite work for people like MJ and Usain (statistical outliers for sure) because of their lightning fast 200s.
I was taught double 200m + 10%.
I think it may depend on the age and gender of the runner, as well as whether the athlete has really trained as a 400 runner. For HS girls who train for it, I am pretty much with DMA. Actually, now that I think about it, it worked for me (male) but I was certainly not an elite runner.
that may be the closest of any calculation for non elites. I even looked at some of our top local runners times and it is pretty darn close certainly more so than any 200 x 2 + X seconds.
I’m very close to double +10% (but then I weigh 210 right now).
