What are their motives? (other than acting cool.)

They sell ZMA!

I have used ZMA and have worked with many athletes who’ve used it and I’m convinced that it helps. The only thing I can continue to suggest is to try it (following directions) and make up your own mind.
Jumping on bandwagons, for or against anything, is always a bad idea!
