From what i can tell in the little bit of training this video has, there is a large emphasis on olympic lifts, however it appears his coach emphasizes quantity much more than quality. He has decent form, but does not appear to put forth maximal effort. i think possible lowering the reps and concentrating more on the explosion would be more beneficial? Also, extremely shallow squat depth. Thoughts?
That’s why blind faith into training systems or even attending a lecture where one puts their system/methodology forth detailing loading schemes, etc, is a bad strategy.
Shaver looked the camera straight in the eye after that piss poor demonstration of lifting performance and carried on a good interview. I was very motivated by the talk, but not by the training! Granted it’s still a “sprint” program but if you are to consider all factors in the athlete’s preparation it’s hard to take a coach seriously if they’re that misinformed on training a quality that can most certainly make a difference in performance (otherwise why waste xavier’s time on it at all?).
I can conclusively say that xavier’s lifting sucks and that its contribution to his training is minimal. In the context of the program, the benefits from this training will be limited. Not commenting on everything else shaver or xavier is doing.
