Who will win the world cup

Tactical mistake. You cannot keep a narrow 1:0 lead against Germany and defend only.
They are always strong in the later stage. Always.
Stupid!

No, no. Now it’s Italy and Brazil they are going to face. I don’t see who can stop them now.
But if Italy does we’ll have the 1994 final again.

You ain’t beating Gerries on home soil and certainly not on penalties. So close with my prediction… :frowning:

p.s

Unless you’re English you can’t

Good call, I can’t believe they tried to sit on that goal the entire game. they almost had it mind you, but having a substitute keeper didnt help one bit neither.

They should’ve put Lionel Messi up front, he must be dissapointed not to have played in the final match.

but if Germany and Brazil face off, we’ll have another world cup 2002

Seems like the German goalie’s “prayers” were answered  Didn’t see the game but heard he saved two penalties for a 4-2 win on golden goals. … must be why Oliver Kahn is sitting on the bench these days. Geez they can find a keeper!

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - German sports goods firm Adidas-Salomon AG is ahead of rivals as sponsor of successful nations at the football World Cup after the second round, giving a boost to sales prospects of replica shirts and other goods.

Adidas sponsors top teams Argentina, Germany and France qualifying for the quarter finals, whereas rivals Nike Inc and Puma AG sponsor two teams and one team respectively in this weekend’s matches.

The stakes are high in the competition with sports goods firms spending millions of euros sponsoring teams to bolster their brand and lift sales of products such as jerseys and footwear.

The longer a team stays in the tournament, the more fans see company logos and may be tempted to buy replica merchandise.

Nike saw sales of Brazil jerseys surging after its partner team beat Germany in the 2002 World Cup final, while Adidas’ Greek jerseys were sold out for days following the country’s win of the European Championships in 2004.

Puma was top supplier at the start of the Cup, but except for Italy all of its 12 teams, among them the Czech Republic, have dropped out. Out of its five African teams, only Ghana qualified for the second round, to be beaten by Brazil.

Adidas, which claims to be global market leader for football gear, has been the games’ top supplier for decades. Its three teams in the quarter finals include Argentina, a hot candidate to win the championship, though several of its teams, including European champions Greece, failed to qualify.

Adidas is also providing match balls and kitting out referees and other match officials.

Out of Nike’s teams, only Brazil and Portugal have survived so far, with the Netherlands, Mexico and Australia all failing in the second round.

Analysts say deals with key teams such as Germany, England and Brazil help boost sales.

Industry sources say a deal with a top team costs a double-digit million euro amount annually, while small teams such as Trinidad & Tobago are almost free.

Teams that underperform risk losing their sponsorship deals. Adidas terminated its cooperation with Saudi Arabia after it made an early exit at the 2002 World Cup and suffered an embarrassing 0-8 defeat to Germany.
Following is a list of teams being sponsored by sports goods firms at the World Cup in Germany after the second round:

ADIDAS

Germany Three-time World Champion

Argentina Twice World Champion

France 1998 World Champion

NIKE

Brazil Five-time World Champion

Portugal

PUMA

Italy Three-time World Champion

UMBRO

England 1966 World Champion

LOTTO

Seanjos

we are worried for your well being today, are you ok? the poor old poms coulda have played for 3 days without scoring in open play.

I watched the 1994 final when I was about 14 years old. I cried like hell when italy lost on shoot outs. I cried and cried in my room. I hated Brazil ever since. I Loved france for what they did to them in the 98 final. That was a SOOO Cool. And Today. France did it again. But this time they doubled the pain. And they have doubled my joy. Anyone can win the world cup now. I don’t care!

Hey Duck

your not one to hold a grudge are you!!!

yea, go figure. I think I’ll have to cheer for the home team now though, rock on Germany.

Champs Elysee avenue after the French victory. what a goal!

Shit
Brazil out…
PLAN B!

PORTUGAL!!!

And here’s one for our English and Portugese members. Bright lad that Looney Rooney. How close was the ref when he stomped that guy in the groin!

That pic has got to be taken out of context!

It isn’t! That’s the sad part.

Devastated by England’s loss, almost as much as the Aussie loss, but not quite. I don’t know why they didn’t start Lennon, he’s been scintilating every time they’ve brought him on. Very happy to have him at Spurs  Bad weekend for English sport, lost to Portugal in the WC and thumped 5-0 in the ODIs against the Lankans.

Semifinal:

Italy 2 - Germany 1
Portugal 0 - France 1

Final:

Italy 1 - France 0

Impossible is Nothing!
