What to make of it?

One of my athletes - a 16 year old girl - have been training for a sub 26 seconds 200 meter.

Today she ran a split run 120+100 with a 30 s pause.

Hand timing on first foot contact was:

120m: 16,4s
100m: 13,4s

She ran on a cinders track.

Her PBs are:
100m: 12.67s
200m: 26.32s

I have very little experience with the 200 meter. So what’s your take on her present form? She will run the 200 on Sunday. Is sub26 a possibility based on the above mentioned splits?

Tough to say. It depends on how hard she ran the 120. Because 16.4 for 120 is about a 20.5 for a 150 which is around a 27 but then she came back 30 seconds later and ran a 13.4 which is even faster than the 120 she before that ran. It indicates about a 16.1. I’d say she is capeable of about a 26.50-70 right now unless he pb’s are from this season which then her workout was not done all out and all my calculations are off.

Well just to let you know man, some one her age will not be able to run a full speed 200m well to be honest theres probably not to many people on the earth that can run a 200m at 100% and finish with a decent time. All the guys i know which are all all low 21’s and mid 20.'s just push it hard and work on getting out long and smooth the first 50ish of the race and then let it rip the last 150m. She will reach full speed by the end of the first 120 and after that she will begin to decellerate after that, what she will want to do now is just relax as much as possible and just pump her arms allowing her arms to carry her through the fatigued.
