I have heard about the strength to weight ratio but if that is the only reason than why aren’t those little olympic weightlifters sprinters? that would be because they are 5 feet tall and don’t have long enough limbs. But there are 180 pound people who squat 500 and bench 350 ect. and are just normal everyday people, so why can’t they run olympic times? Then there are people who don’t lift weights and may not even be strong if they tried lifting them, but they are fast? so what makes someone fast?
i see thank you
What makes someone fast?
- fast muscle
- fast nervous system
- high levels of ordination in the CNS
How to make somone fast, thats another question.

good call. I am in the process of compiling a battery of tests you can put your potential mate through, so you can see how much “twitch” they have. Genetics first, then how they cook after. LOL. Just kidding.
- A large lunch box down the front of the costume
Neospeed,
You have it wrong my friend. The colour of the costume is what is important. That and how you look in your costume. Oh did I mention a shaved head and a Mo Greene swagger.
All this combined will make you truly fast.
Also, don’t forget the tongue. You must know how to properly use the tongue
Ah, the tongue! Of course! A relaxed floppy tongue could save you as much as 2/10 of a second over 100m, and probably choke you over 400m.
Keep your mouth shut in the blocks though. If you have a long one you might step on it and that could cost you at least 1/2 a second.:baddevil::
jamaal i think you will find that olympic weightlifters do have brilliant acceleration.
Spot on Hassan, just ask Woody!!!
“Cubic inch muscle power” (amongst many other things.)
Maybe we could think, “strength to weight to hieght ratio”, instead of just strength to weight ratio.
Jo is 5’11 , 175 pounds, squats 500 x 1.
Bob = 5’6, 175 pounds, squats 520 x 1
If u ask me, Jo has more power or atleast
more cubed inch muscle strength.

why dont they switch to sprints? lifting like 6 times a day would get awful boring to me:P
genetics,talent,motivation,self-believe,proper coaching from a young age and a solid team/envoironment
<why dont they switch to sprints? lifting like 6 times a day would get awful boring to me>
May be they find sprinting the 100m boring!
I believe that to be fast you have to have a good attitude, good and hard training schedules and the desire to reach your goals and dreams.
That’s why I will be the fatsest human ever.
