I know I’m going against the grain here and I’m happy for Bolt, as well as what he is doing for the sport (similar to C Lewis), but I’m a little tired of people foaming at the mouth over Bolts accomplishments. I’m not directing this at you holscher but just to the public in general.
The way I see it, Bolt was able to achieve what he did due to:
He’s a Jamaican born individual, had he been born in the US he would be playing basketball or football as a QB like Vince Young.
He comes from a good, hard working, duel parent loving family.
He lives in Jamaica where the weather is conducive to year around sprint training as well as running/sprinting is an integral part of the Jamaican culture unlike here in the states it’s only every 4 years when an average person can name a single current sprint athlete.
Bolt like other Jamaicans have excess to good coaches.
Bolt is a larger man/male who’s has a larger stride length then his competitors and has an elite level stride frequency so if you do the math he SHOULD be running low 19 sec; for example.
Now, I’m not here to kiss ass but Ben Johnson to me is a freak he’s a much smaller man who ran 6.3 in 60M (same as Bolt in 100) and 9.7 over 20 years ago with no drive phase.(lol)

Glad you have your suit on–I’ll let someone else get started, but so many of these points are… well I’ll let them start. The due ling parents, having the “drive phase”, the excess of good coaches in Jamaica, the mentioning of Vince Young… so many places to begin.
