I envy you beyond words.
Does it seem like Powell becomes extremely upright in the later stage of the race, as he pulls away? He seemed almost on the edge of leaning back to me, much more upright than the other men in the race.
It also looks like he doesn’t extend his leg behind him as much as other sprinters and he bends at the knee a little more also.
Look on the slow mo provided by Thor and you’ll see the extension that you miss at regular speed. Don’t forget, the higher the hip the straighter the leg is as it passes under the hip and therefore you leave the ground closer to Bottom Dead Center. A great race. Thanks Thor.
I’ve seen a brilliant race analysis by Pierre Jean. It has all the info and a comparison between Tim and Asafa’s records as well as splits from Asafa’s 3 best this year. I hope this is posted here soon!! Wonderful stuff and what this site is all about.
What would you say his plans should be now, Charlie? I mean for the following couple of months and Helsinki?

I would give 1,000,000 dollars for a side view of the race
He should lay low for 10 days or so to allow the body to recover from some incredible efforts in close proximity. After 10days he’ll be ready for more.
From what i understand his next races are:
June 24 - Nationals Trials 100m heats (10 days after the WR…)
June 25 - Nationals Trials 100m semis & final (looks like perfect for an other WR in front of extatic fans?)
July 8 - Roma Golden League (summer base for his group)
He was supposed to run on July 5 in Lausanne, but not sure if Lausanne can afford enough now to the new WR holder. Other Golden League meetings prior Helsinki WC are Paris Saint-Denis on July 1st and July 29 in Olso. No official agreement yet…
