As usual - thanks to TMSSF.
Those camera angles really bring out the speed of the race! Gatlin and Scott really do clash hard. Its almost as if they stop for a split second. Gatlin is in form. No doubt about it.
Thanks thor. Wow gatlins race was great, I’m guessing he could have done low 9.8x without that arm clash.
Asafa did not look at his best unfortunately and did not try for the last 10m…
That was really quite a huge collision.
Asafa looks very different in this race, his backside mechanics are far more pronounced, his arm action looks short and choppy, and he looks tight through his shoulders.
What’s going on?
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Asafa, just the angle. When he’s side on in the vid he looks as before, but, after seeing the 9.88 on this video, can anyone still doubt that Gatlin can run 9.77??
I was thinking this too but it is also the cut of his top, it emphasises the arms. I think it is quite a good vidoe to show people just to make them realise how hard you need to be pumping your arms. The video really shows how powerful Powell is, it seems weird but until now i always thought of him as being less strong than he is… (though obvously this doesn’t make sense as no one who isn’t strong can run 9.77).
from the 2 clips (thanks Thor!) gatlin looked great and left the field for dead.on the other hand asafa looked not as nimble and from the head on he looked not as relaxed but time will tell.
Looking at the video i think Gatlin is on to breaking the record soon. Am really looking forward to his next 100
wow,
Gatlin definetly looked great! Asafa didnt look so well.
I dont think that Gatlin’s clash with scott was more then 0,03-.05 secs(He was talkin about WR otherwise).
But i also dont see Asafa slowing significantly down the last 10m …
Interesting is the different stride length/frequency : Powell does faster steps while Gatlin has just an incredible stride length…
It seems that powell really tried. Gatlin lost rythm with Scott’s heat. 9.88 in these conditions are worth better than Doha’s 9.77. Gatlin won in Eugene no doubt about that.
Gatlin’s last 8-9 strides are amazing! Looks like he has been doing a lot of core work. I am not seeing the give and sway in his midsection as last season. He looks more symetrical. “If it looks right - it flies right!”
holy smokes, that was an awesome vid. Thanks Thor. Gatlin sure has some wide first few strides out of the blocks.
Looks like there coulda been another collision // #15 and #17 right next to Asafa. 15 went way into the other lane.
Yeah i agrre with pierejean, you really can see a loss of rhytm in the contact…
