Vern Gambetta to Speak at 2007 USTFCCCA Convention

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association is pleased to announce Vern Gambetta as one of the featured speakers for the technical seminars during the 2007 USTCCCA Convention.

Gambetta will speak on the topic of Strength Training for Distance Runners on Tuesday, December 18th and Strength and Power Development for Sprinters on Wednesday, December 19th.

Presently, Gambetta is the director of Gambetta Sports Training Systems. Gambetta was one of the founding fathers of the USATF Coaching Education program. His most extensive coaching experience has come in track and field, but has been the conditioning coach for several Major League Soccer teams as well as the conditioning consultant for the men’s U.S. World Cup soccer team.

Gambetta is also the former Director of Conditioning for the Chicago White Sox and former Director of Athletic Development for the New York Mets.

Gambetta also has served as a consultant coach for Nike Oregon Project, edited Track Technique, the technical journal of USATF and is the associate editor of the IAAF technical journal, New Studies in Athletic.

Most recently, Gambetta joined the editorial review board for techniques, the official journal of the USTFCCCA.
