I imagine most here don’t follow women’s basketball, but the rivalry between US and Australia is pretty heated. US won gold over Aussies again, and Lisa Leslie got her fourth gold medal, a record. At the medal ceremony, she wore her gold medals from the last three Games. Officials told her to put them back in her shirt, which she did – for a few moments. But as soon as she had her new medal out came the other three. In your faces, Aussies.
In my opinion, if Jacques Rogge wants to criticize somebody over poor sportsmanship, inappropriate celebration, and showing up fellow competitors, he now has a legitimate target. I will be interested to see if Rogge, or the US press, has anything to say about this.
