Under what conditions would you cancel or end a workout?

Obviously injuries, but what else ?

Fatigue…overall tiredness…lazy movments…massive decreases in times during the runs in the session.

Sometimes its tough to fight these urges though. Is there a difference between PERCIEVED fatigue, and ACTUAL fatigue? Even if there is, would you take no chances and just cancel/end either way?

Why not, ending one workout is not gonna hurt. Or maybe you have to look at the bigger picture, are you planning to much which will ultimatly lead to overtraining. I am the same way, i never want to stop, I would probably run myself into the ground if i didnt know better, and probably still push myself to hard. Do as much as you can to improve, if theres one day or a few days where youre feeling burnt out, take some time off and come back fresher.

Nice post. not only does it spare yourself the humiliation and frustration of bad performance, but you save your body too. good thing I know that now…

exactly, im sure youve heard of those coaches, or read some of charlies stories about how they get mad at athletes who perform badly at practice and then demand that they do it again until they do it right or fast enough. And what does that lead to, now wanting to come back to. Until this year i was ready to run myself into the ground to better does that work nope. Work smarter not harder, and youll save yourself a world of problems.

Thunder and lightning!

I will sometimes end a workout, if everyone looks absolutely amazing. Not pushing it to far

Reward them sometimes

That brings up a good point say a sprinter or all of them are running pbs in practice and not just .03 in a 30m but like a good 2 or 3 tenths in a 30m or whatever distance, would you end the workout so they dont injure themselves or let them keep running. Would it be different for beginners over advanced athletes who have ran the massive pb

I think it says in cfts that if you run a PR like that in practice to cut the workout short.

If you start talking to some hot chick on the track and she says she needs a massage.

gosh i apparently offended somebody with this post…

I would only stop my workout provided her workout waranted a massage - no handiwork for the lazy. I want pb’s from the females as well…this isn’t a one way track! (Oh I’m so witty)
