Measuring “enhanced performance” is another issue (more difficult study).
Simply doing the blood work for a group using the supplements is very straightforward.
By all means try it, and get your levels tested…
With women? Yes, definitely, though with a small group but all favourable. We started combining the ZMA with powdered Glutamine before bed and I feel it’s a very good combo.
Can`t you use porn like everyone else …
Sorry, could`nt resist that.
Hey, those were the female athletes, not me! Well, if you want to get down to it, the number one male performance enhancer is better looking women!!
The only time I take my glutamine is before bed. Makes me want to piss in the middle of the night though.
It is a great time to take it.
I use zinc and magnesium but not in the combo. Zinc and mag in the morning and only mag at night. Why is the combo better than individual doses? I can’t see the difference!
My wife (track cycling sprinter) uses Tribulus with seemingly good effect. Blood tests verify a small increase in T levels. I am of the opinion that in a healthy male with normal T levels, the small increase in T (if any) from tribulus, is not enough to give any major effect. But in women, a small increase in T will be noticeable.
So whether it is real or placebo, she feels stronger & recovers better while taking it. Will take the effect either way!!
I don’t understand why they try to test whether tribulus raises t-levels. I always though it was supposed to act via a different pathway (plant sterol). So it could be working even though there is no rise in normal t-levels… Either it does something or it doesn’t- end of story.
I think that with many of these types of supplements, we too often look for whether there is a major boost in hormonal profiles & how this in turn may boost athletic performance. There are probably very few legal supplements that will indeed achieve this result.
Perhaps look at some of these compounds from another perspective… at times heavy training loads will decrease the likes of testosterone, & certainly will decrease performance levels. By taking Trib, ZMA, etc, while you do not see T-levels boosted, you might not see them fall either when you could expect them to do so.
The track cycling sprinter I coach has seen huge gains this season (she takes Trib, ZMA, & Beta Alanine+Creatine). I wouldn’t attribute these gains to any of her supplements individually, but more to her resiliency this season & her ability to handle more of the training (loads have increased) without falling flat. Obviously her total training “package” has helped, but the withdrawal of any of the above sees her fall flat in one form or another fairly quickly.
So I guess my point is, you don’t have to see a boost in order to see the improvement.
I just get sleepy and lethargic whenever I take Tribulus. I didn’t even get randy at all I was more likey to turn down sex cause I couldn’t be bothered. Weird, I hate the stuff.
